About Us

Randall F. Inniss, Esq.

Randall F. Inniss is the founder of The Inniss Firm, PLLC, a dedicated criminal defense practice serving clients throughout New York’s Hudson Valley region.

As a former New York State Trooper with more than 22 years of investigative experience involving DWI charges, misdemeanors, and felonies, Randall F. Inniss examines each case from a dual perspective: how law enforcement built the case and how the defense can challenge it effectively in court. He has been an admitted attorney to practice law for over 25 years, and he brings that depth of experience to every stage of a criminal case.

He is also a former Certified Breathalyzer Operator who personally made, or participated in, over one hundred DWI arrests. This hands-on background helps him scrutinize traffic stops, standardized field sobriety testing, breath testing, and the details that can be minimized or omitted in police reports.

Drawing on his experience as a former narcotics unit supervisor, Randall F. Inniss understands that key facts helpful to the defense may never make it into the official narrative. He focuses on uncovering those omitted details and using them to strengthen a client’s position, whether the goal is reduced charges, dismissal, or a better outcome at trial.

The Inniss Firm focuses on defending those charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and other misdemeanor and felony offenses, including drug and weapons possession, larceny, assault (including domestic violence), robbery, burglary, and criminal mischief, among others. The firm also handles traffic tickets, and it proudly represents commercial drivers and transportation professionals, including CDL holders and livery, Uber, and Lyft operators.

Beyond courtroom advocacy, Randall F. Inniss regularly contributes to legal education through speaking and training. His speaking engagements include “The Power of Protest: Human Rights at Home and Abroad” at Yale College (June 25, 2020), NHTSA Standardized Field Sobriety Testing training for lawyers through Impaired Driving Specialists, LLC (2019), and “Students of Color Achieving Success” at the University at Buffalo (2014).

“I provide a unique approach to criminal defense from the dual perspective of a former 21 plus year State Trooper and a criminal defense attorney. A case or arrest typically starts with the officer on the street, well before a prosecutor is privy to the case and paperwork. I have over 22 years of experience on the streets, in courts and in the criminal justice system overall.”
